Our Grade 1 students celebrated World Cotton Day with great enthusiasm and curiosity. The day was thoughtfully planned to help children understand the importance of cotton in a simple, practical, and engaging manner. Celebrating Cotton Day: The Fabric of Our Lives.
Every year, Cotton Day reminds us to celebrate one of the world’s most important natural fibers — *cotton*. Soft, breathable, versatile, and sustainable, cotton plays a vital role in our daily lives, from the clothes we wear to the sheets we sleep on.
Hands-on Cotton Activity
The celebration began with an interactive session where students explored raw cotton. They touched and observed its soft texture and learned how cotton grows in fields as fluffy white bolls. Teachers explained the journey of cotton—from harvesting and cleaning to spinning and weaving into fabric.

Children participated in a creative cotton pasting craft, reinforcing their understanding while enhancing fine motor skills and creativity.
Speech with Confidence
A highlight of the event was the speech presentation by our young learners. Students confidently spoke a few lines about cotton, its uses, and why cotton clothes are comfortable and skin-friendly.

This activity helped improve their public speaking skills, pronunciation, and stage confidence.
Display of Cotton Products
A dedicated display corner showcased various cotton-based products such as shirts, dresses, towels, handkerchiefs, cotton bags, and cotton balls. Students observed and identified these items, connecting classroom learning to real-life objects. The display created visual awareness and helped children recognize the value of natural fibers.

Learning Outcome
Through this celebration, students:
Understood the importance of cotton as a natural fiber
Recognized everyday products made from cotton
